Peripheral venous cannulation

This course equips registered nurses with the knowledge and practical skills to safely perform peripheral venous cannulation. It covers indications for cannulation, device selection, site choice, aseptic technique, and the prevention of complications such as infection and phlebitis. Learners will explore medication preparation, IV calculations, patient monitoring, documentation, and professional accountability. Competence is assessed through theory and supervised practical insertion and removal.
