Course Details

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Tier 2 is a full-day, face-to-face course designed for professionals who are patient or client-facing and have direct contact with individuals with a learning disability and autism. The training is delivered by an experienced lead facilitator supported by two co-trainers, including experts by experience, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning environment. The course meets NHS and UK Government requirements and focuses on developing knowledge, skills and confidence in areas such as communication, reasonable adjustments and delivering safe, person-centred care. Through interactive activities and real-life scenarios, delegates will gain practical understanding to support best practice, and upon successful completion, will receive a recognised certificate.

Who is this Course Aimed At?

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training Tier 2 is designed for health and social care professionals who provide direct care or support to individuals with a learning disability and autistic people, including doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, healthcare assistants, support workers and care staff across NHS, private and community settings. It is also relevant for social workers, mental health practitioners, GP practice teams, ambulance and urgent care staff, and those working in residential care, supported living and domiciliary care, as well as any professional required to meet NHS and government mandatory training standards for learning disability and autism.

Important Information

Attendees must have completed their Tier 1 (Part 1) Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training prior to attending this Tier 2 session. All participants are required to arrive promptly before the scheduled start time to ensure full participation, as late entry may not be permitted. Please ensure you bring a valid form of photographic ID with you on the day of training. Oliver McGowan Tier 1 Part 1 is available from our online training platform if you don't already have it.
