Phlebotomy

This Phlebotomy course provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely collect blood samples in a clinical setting. Participants will cover anatomy and physiology, infection control, venepuncture techniques, patient care, and best practice to ensure accurate sampling and patient safety. Trainees will have practice on dummy arms taking blood including use of butterfly needle � trainees will also need to take blood from live arms during the training session so each candidate should be prepared to allow another student to practice although can refuse. Assessment competency sheets will be given to the candidate to complete 3 live phlebotomy draws under supervision/monitoring back in the work place.

Who is the course aimed at?

Healthcare workers who need to take blood

Course pre-requisites

Candidates to wear comfortable, loose clothing, closed toe shoes, hair tied back and no jewellery other than plain band ring and/or stud earrings. Candidates must inform the trainer if they have any medical problems.
